The Institute of Water Problems is established in July, 1991 according to the resolution of Cabinet of Ministers under the President of Republic Uzbekistan. The institute comprises a research station of irrigation techniques located in Zangiata region and consists of six laboratories:

•   Hydro-ecology and hydro-chemical irrigation.

•    Hydrochemistry and water purification.

•    Methodology of complex use of water resources.

•   Water resources of deserts.

•   Water saving technologies of irrigation.

•   Hydrology and hydraulic engineering of irrigated grounds.
